A recent academic study by Hindu American scholar Indu Viswanathan has raised concerns about the representation of Hindu voices within the field of Hindu Studies, arguing that Hindu scholars who challenge dominant academic narratives often face barriers to recognition and participation.
The study wad published in the Journal of the Council for Research on Religion, the paper, 'Examining Anti-Hindu Bias in American Public Education: The Endogenous Cycle of Hinduphobia.'
The study examines what Viswanathan describes as an “endogenous cycle of Hinduphobia” - a framework through which negative perceptions of Hinduism and Hindus are perpetuated through stereotypes, omissions, and challenges to the credibility of Hindu voices in academic and public discourse.
