She added that she was "grateful for the opportunity to serve alongside an exceptional group of board members, staff, and volunteers" and called it "a privilege" to attend this year's PAAR Annual Gala in support of the organization's mission.

Founded in 1972 by the Pittsburgh chapter of the National Organization for Women, PAAR provides crisis intervention, counseling, advocacy, prevention education, and community outreach to survivors of sexual violence across southwestern Pennsylvania.

Patel has served as executive director of Sustainable Pittsburgh since January 2025, leading collaborations among businesses, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations to advance sustainability initiatives in the region.

Her career spans public service, civic technology, and policymaking. She previously served as community outreach manager in the Office of Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald and founded Beamdata, a civic technology company that created Be the Change, a platform designed to help Pennsylvanians engage with elected officials.

She also serves on the Pennsylvania Medical Marijuana Advisory Board, to which she was appointed in 2020 by Senate Democratic Leader Jay Costa.

Patel has served on several nonprofit and advisory boards, including the University of Pittsburgh Master of Quantitative Economics Advisory Board, Three Rivers Rowing Association, the Pitt Alumni Association Board, the Bhutanese Community Association of Pittsburgh, and Sustainable Pittsburgh. She also previously served as a councilmember in Edgewood Borough.

A first-generation college graduate and daughter of immigrants, Patel earned an MPhil in International Relations from the University of Oxford as a Rotary Global Scholar and a bachelor's degree from the University of Pittsburgh. Her leadership has been recognized by the Holocaust Center of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh Business Times, and Pittsburgh Magazine.
