Bengali American painter honored with YoungArts ‘Leading with Creativity’ Awards

Raima Chowdhury won the honor, which builds on the success of the 2024 YoungArts Marketplace, where artists collaborated with Anthropologie Home leadership.

Raima Chowdhury, a Bengali American fine artist based in Jackson Heights, Queens, New York, has been named one of the five recipients of the 2025 YoungArts x Anthropologie “Leading with Creativity” awards. The announcement was made on Aug.18 by Anthropologie, the Philadelphia-based lifestyle brand, in partnership with YoungArts.

Chowdhury, who specializes in oil painting, works in naturalism and realism, drawing from post-Romanesque European traditions. She uses techniques such as chiaroscuro and trompe l’oeil to depict the surfaces and textures of still-life ensembles. Her recent series incorporates cultural antiques and familial memorabilia, offering viewers an intimate look into her Bengali American heritage.
