Ohio Republican gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy’s campaign on March 27 launched a new statewide television and digital advertisement, making property tax relief the focus of its latest appeal to voters.

The campaign said the ad, titled Cornerstone, began running across broadcast, cable, streaming and digital platforms as part of a previously announced $10 million media buy.

The 30-second spot features Roger Walker, identified by the campaign as an Ohio senior homeowner, who says rising property taxes are burdening seniors and making homeownership harder for younger families.

“Owning your home… is a cornerstone of the American Dream,” Walker says in the ad. “But for seniors, property taxes keep going up… and are costing us everything we’ve worked for.”

The advertisement presents Ramaswamy’s proposal as an effort to roll back property taxes to levels seen before the end of the COVID-19 pandemic, while maintaining support for police, fire and public schools.

The campaign said the spot is intended to highlight what it describes as one of Ramaswamy’s core affordability proposals in the 2026 Ohio governor’s race.

“Vivek knows property taxes are crushing Ohio’s seniors and working families,” Jonathan Ewing, campaign manager for Vivek Ramaswamy for Ohio, said in a statement. “That’s why delivering real property tax relief has been a top priority since Day 1.”

Earlier this month, the campaign launched its first ads of the race under the same media buy, part of an early statewide advertising push in a contest expected to draw heavy spending and national attention.

The property tax message comes as affordability and housing costs remain central issues for Ohio voters, amid concerns over rising home values and local tax burdens.

Ramaswamy, a Cincinnati-born biotech entrepreneur and former Republican presidential candidate, launched his campaign for governor in February 2025 with the endorsement of President Donald Trump. He later received backing from the Ohio Republican Party in May 2025.

His campaign also reported raising $19.8 million in 2025, which it described as a record annual total for an Ohio gubernatorial campaign. According to the campaign, that figure came from more than 254,000 donations with an average contribution of $76.

The 2026 election will determine the successor to Mike DeWine, who is term-limited and cannot seek another consecutive term.

The Republican primary field includes candidates such as Casey Putsch and Heather Hill, while the Democratic contest is led by Amy Acton, former director of the Ohio Department of Health.

Ramaswamy has selected Rob McColley as his running mate for lieutenant governor.
