A top Republican Senator has introduced legislation that would terminate the Optional Practical Training (OPT) program for international students and impose a USD150,000 minimum salary floor for H-1B visa holders.
Rolling out a sweeping proposal to overhaul high-skilled immigration programs, Senator Jim Banks from Indiana argued that US companies have leaned too heavily on foreign labour at the expense of American workers.
