The outbreak has been reported aboard the MV Hondius, a polar cruise ship operated by tour company Oceanwide Expeditions.
The Dutch cruise ship Hondius remains offshore in Cape Verde on May 4, 2026. Cape Verde authorities have offered medical help and banned the Dutch cruise vessel Hondius from docking at the port of Praia over public health concerns, as a respiratory disease outbreak was detected on board.
