An Indian entrepreneur working U.S.–India crossover hours faced repeated noise complaints from neighbors at his San Francisco Airbnb due to his late-night work schedule.

Prateek Sachan, co-founder of AI startup Bolna and an IIT Delhi alumnus, said he routinely works until 5–6 a.m. Pacific Time to match schedules with his India-based team and customers.

Sachan, currently part of Y Combinator’s F25 batch, said neighbors living in the unit below him filed multiple complaints over disturbances caused during his overnight work routine.

He also shared screenshots of messages from his Airbnb host, who defended him and criticized the neighbors for escalating the issue.

In one message, the host told him: “Please let me know if the guest below causes any more trouble for you guys. I am sorry they are difficult. You have both been outstanding guests so I don't want your eta to be marred.”

The host also informed Sachan that the issue had been escalated to Airbnb support.
Reassuring Sachan, the host added: “I do not want you guys to be inconvenienced or feel uncomfortable. We've never had a problem with noise and we've hosted several guests from South Asia.”

Sachan said the situation left the neighbors “confused on what they can do now,” after learning his schedule was tied to Indian business hours. He publicly thanked the host for supporting him.
