Ramaswamy surges in primary, Acton contest remains tight: Poll
The poll predicts a one percentage advantage in favor of Ramaswamy as both candidates fail to breach the 50 percent mark.

President Donald Trump-backed Vivek Ramaswamy is miles ahead of his competition in the upcoming Ohio mayoral Republican primary, but the real fight with Democratic favorite Amy Acton continues to be a close call, as per a poll prediction by InteractivePolls.
Ramaswamy, who will be taking on business owners Casey Putsch and Heather Hill in the upcoming May 5 Republican primary. InteractivePolls predict a one-sided competition, placing 76 percent of the votes in Ramaswamy’s kitty and equally dividing the remaining 24 between Putsch and Hill.

2026 Ohio Governor GOP Primary
Ramaswamy’s struggles, however, will kick off post the likely primary win, as per the poll. They predict a stiff competition, with Ramaswamy inching past Acton with a single percentage advantage of 48-47 percent, respectively.
Other candidates in the race are nowhere near Acton and Ramaswamy, as per the polls, and cumulatively hold just 5 percent of the votes.

Ramaswamy’s lead in the primary can be heavily attributed to two key endorsements he received early in his campaign. Backed by President Trump and the endorsement from the Ohio Republican Party in 2025, Ramaswamy will likely be the top Republican choice to go against the Democrats in this tightly contested gubernatorial race.
The poll numbers were reported a day after he received an endorsement from the Cleveland Police Patrolmen’s Association.
Apart from law enforcement, Ramaswamy has received endorsements from labor groups, including the Ohio Conference of Teamsters, marking a departure from the union’s traditional support for Democratic candidates.
His campaign said it raised $19.8 million in 2025 following more than 110 in-state fundraising events, marking the highest single-year fundraising total in Ohio gubernatorial history.
The close competition with Acton has seen little change over time. A March 2026 poll by Quantus Insights polled 45.9 percent for Acton and 44.9 percent for Ramaswamy. While both candidates have increased their overall vote share as per the new polls, it offers little consolation to either candidate as they continue to remain neck and neck against each other.
