Harman Preet Singh, a nurse in Australia, suffered a broken nose after being allegedly assaulted in a racist attack at a gym in Geelong on the night of Feb. 17.

A report by 9 News stated that the 22-year-old claimed he was confronted by three men while leaving his gym.

However, Singh said the harassment began while he was still training and believes the trio waited outside for him to finish his workout.

The Australian news outlet reported that video footage shows one man shouting at Singh using expletives.

Singh claimed he was headbutted by one of the attackers.

The incident ended with the alleged offenders leaving the scene in a grey sedan. Singh took himself to the hospital, where he spent the night. Doctors later confirmed he had suffered a broken nose.

Singh said this was not the first time he had been targeted with racial abuse and spoke about the mental toll such incidents take. He also expressed doubts about returning to the gym after his recovery and told 9 News:

“I try to keep myself strong, not care about such things, but it hurts.”

“I don't know if I'm going to go back to the gym or if I'm going to change my hours ... I'm not going to feel safe after this,” he added.

Authorities in Victoria are investigating the alleged assault.
