New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, in collaboration with the FIFA World Cup 2026 New York New Jersey Host Committee, on April 27 announced a slate of free fan events as part of the upcoming tournament, starting this June.
The events will feature live match viewings, cultural programming and interactive experiences across the five boroughs of NYC, the mayor announced at Staten Island University Hospital Community Park in a public event.
The FIFA World Cup 2026 will be the 23rd edition of the tournament, co-hosted by Canada, Mexico and the United States from June 11 to July 19, 2026, marking the first time it features an expanded field of 48 teams and a record 104 matches across 16 host cities.
Numerous matches, including the final, will be played at MetLife Stadium in New York/New Jersey, with the opening match scheduled at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City.

In Queens, the fan event will be hosted at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center from June 11 to 27.
In Manhattan, fans will be able to participate from July 6 to 19 at the Fan Village in Rockefeller Center.
In the Bronx, it will be held at the Bronx Terminal Market on June 13 and 14.
Staten Islanders will be able to watch at Staten Island University Hospital Community Park from June 29 until July 2.
And lastly, Brooklynites will be able to attend the festivities at Brooklyn Bridge Park from June 13 to July 19.
“When I think back on my first World Cup, some of my most meaningful memories weren’t in the stadium, they were in the fan zones, surrounded by thousands of people brought together by a pure love of the game,” said Mayor Mamdani.
He continued, “That’s what we’re building here: a World Cup that belongs to New Yorkers. By bringing these free fan events to every borough, we’re making sure everyone can be part of that joy.”
New York Gov. Kathy Hochul emphasized the inclusivity of the events and said, “New Yorkers are ready to welcome fans from across the world for the 2026 World Cup and we’re making sure everyone who calls this city home is part of this historic event.”
Hochul continued, “These free fan events across all five boroughs bring the excitement of the game to every New Yorker in every community — supporting our small businesses and bringing New Yorkers together.”
Staten Island University Hospital Community Park also received a new LED scoreboard, funded by the New York City Economic Development Corporation and a donation from the FIFA New York New Jersey Host Committee.
The joint initiative between the city and the Host Committee prepares the venue to host FIFA Fan Fest watch parties this summer, while providing a lasting infrastructure upgrade that will benefit the community long after the 2026 World Cup concludes.
