Economist Arvind Subramanian said India’s democracy has both enabled stability and complicated economic decision-making, including in its relationship with global economic models, during a discussion on the ‘Ideas of India’ podcast.

Subramanian, a former Chief Economic Advisor to the Government of India, and Devesh Kapur, a professor at Johns Hopkins University, spoke with host Shruti Rajagopalan about India’s development trajectory, policy choices, and institutional challenges. The podcast is produced by the Mercatus Center at George Mason University.
