India thrash Chile 6-0 to reach FIH Women’s Nations Cup final

India defeated Chile 6-0 in the semifinals of the FIH Hockey Women’s Nations Cup to secure their place in the final with a fourth consecutive victory.

The Indian Women's Hockey Team continued its impressive run in the FIH Hockey Women's Nations Cup New Zealand 2025-26, defeating Chile 6-0 in the semifinal on Saturday to book a place in the title clash.

Navneet Kaur scored twice in the opening quarter, while Deepika also struck a brace. Neha and Rutuja Dadaso Pisal added a goal each as India registered their fourth consecutive victory in the tournament.

Captain Salima Tete was named Player of the Match for her influential all-round performance.

India made a strong start and took the lead in the sixth minute through Navneet Kaur, who converted the team's first penalty corner of the match.

Navneet doubled India's advantage in the 13th minute after finishing a cross from Salima, before Deepika struck twice in quick succession from penalty corners in the 14th and 18th minutes to give India a commanding 4-0 lead at halftime.

With her two goals, Deepika moved to the top of the tournament's scoring chart with six goals.

India maintained their dominance after the break. Neha converted another penalty corner in the 32nd minute before Rutuja Dadaso Pisal added the sixth goal seven minutes later with a reverse-hit finish from open play.

Chile attempted to respond in the final quarter, but goalkeeper Savita produced a series of important saves to preserve India's clean sheet.

The victory sends India into the final, where they will face the winner of the second semifinal between the United States and hosts New Zealand.
