The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has taken custody of Nava Kumar Tupili, ICE announced on April 20.

Tupili has been taken into custody as part of a major weekend push undertaken by ICE, arresting over two dozen alleged criminals who were in the country illegally, according to a statement by the department.

Nava Kumar Tupili, described as a “criminal illegal alien from India”, was convicted for accosting children for immoral purposes and using a computer to commit a crime in Wayland, Michigan.

ICE took custody of Tupili after the county jail honored an ICE detainer and turned him over to ICE officers instead of releasing him.

ICE also noted that Tupili was a convicted child predator.

Tupili had allegedly entered the United States on a student visa, which was subsequently revoked in 2024.

Announcing the series of arrests over the weekend, ICE noted in a statement, “Over the weekend, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested criminal illegal aliens across the country convicted for despicable crimes including sexual assault of a child, human trafficking for sexual servitude, sexual solicitation of a minor, rape, kidnapping, and other appalling crimes.”

Highlighting the significance of the arrests, Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis said in a statement, “Over the weekend, the heroic men and women of ICE arrested criminal illegal aliens convicted for some of the worst crimes imaginable, including sex trafficking, child rape, and kidnapping.”

Bis continued, “ICE law enforcement never takes a day off—even on the weekends—from removing criminal illegal aliens from American communities. If you see an ICE law enforcement officer, thank them for removing these heinous criminals from our country.”
