Huron University launches India Advisory Committee

The committee comprises leading figures who will provide strategic guidance on student recruitment, partnerships, corporate collaborations, and regulatory engagement in India.

Canada’s Huron University announced the formation of its India Advisory Committee, aimed at enhancing engagement with India and supporting the university’s growing Indian student community.

The committee comprises leading figures from business, diplomacy, policy, and education, who will provide strategic guidance on student recruitment, partnerships, corporate collaborations, and regulatory engagement in India.

The inaugural members include Paul Abraham, president of Hinduja Foundation; Renu Basu, advisor at Indian Hotels Company Limited; Ajay Bisaria, former Indian High Commissioner to Canada; Ipsita Dasgupta, managing director & SVP at HP; Anita Marangoly George, CEO and co-founder of ProsperETE; Sumit Maheshwari, managing director at Fairbridge Capital; Hari Marar, managing director & CEO at Bangalore International Airport Ltd; Madhavan Menon, non-executive chairman at Thomas Cook (India) Ltd; Bobby Parikh, founder of Bobby Parikh Associates; and Barry Craig, president and vice-chancellor of Huron University.

The initiative will provide students with tailored academic programs, access to internships and leadership opportunities, and a mentorship-driven environment emphasizing ethics and global exposure.

Huron University, established in 1863 and the founding institution of Western University, is known for its liberal arts education, small class sizes, and focus on values-driven leadership. With an enrollment of approximately 2,000 students in business, arts, and social sciences, the university emphasizes personalized support and globally engaged learning.

The India Advisory Committee is expected to play a central role in shaping Huron’s strategy for one of the world’s fastest-growing student markets, supporting partnerships and corporate engagement while guiding the university’s approach to global education.
