US Congressman Pete Sessions visited BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandirs in Dallas and Frisco locations on July 11 along with Irving Mayor Albert C. Zapanta, where Sessions addressed and met with local community as well as leaders.
The sessions' visit provided an opportunity for both to discuss the longstanding relationship between the United States and India and to recognize the role of faith- based organizations in strengthening local communities through services, volunteering and cultural engagements.

During a panel discussion at the mandir, Congressman Sessions said, "For the United States of America to remain a great country, we have to have friends, and friendship with other great nations- one of them is India.” He also shared his experiences and deeper understanding of the country’s culture, traditions and cultural heritage while traveling to India and Nepal.
Congressman Sessions also spoke about meeting Mahant Swami Maharaj during his recent visit to India. He described the meeting as personally meaningful and shared how Mahant Swami Maharaj’s humility, compassion and emphasis on serving others left a lasting impression. Sessions noted that their conversation reinforced the importance of promoting values such as faith, service and community engagement.
The visit also highlighted Congressman Sessions’ long-lasting relationship with the BAPS community. During the program, the community leaders recognized his continued support over the years, including his participation during the early stages of the Dallas Mann Dhir’s construction.
When asked about his connection with the Indian American community, Congressman Sessions shared that his father, who served as a federal judge and Director of the FBI, encouraged him to build meaningful relationships with people from diverse backgrounds and to recognize the positive contributions they make towards society.
The program concluded with the recognition of Mayor of Irving, Albert C Zapanta who has three decades of public service and leadership. Congressman Sessions thanked the Indian American community for preserving its cultural heritage while making meaningful contributions to the growth and vitality of North Texas.
