Indian-origin physician Amish Shah, the Democratic nominee for Arizona's 1st Congressional District, has announced a significant boost to his general election campaign, securing a formal endorsement from the NRDC Action Fund.
The NRDC Action Fund, a nonprofit organization that acts as the affiliated political and lobbying arm of the Natural Resources Defense Council, is dedicated to combating climate change, protecting public health and conserving natural resources. It supports political candidates who champion climate action, conservation and public health.
“Proud to be endorsed by @NRDC_Action! In Congress, I'll continue working to lower utility costs while protecting our air and water,” he posted on X.

As a physician, Dr. Shah has frequently linked environmental quality to public health outcomes, arguing that clean air and water are essential to reducing the long-term health care burdens on Arizona residents.
Arizona's 1st Congressional District includes Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, Fountain Hills and parts of northeast Phoenix. The seat is open after Republican Rep. David Schweikert chose to run for governor instead of seeking reelection.
Shah will face Republican nominee Jay Feely, a former NFL kicker endorsed by President Donald Trump, in the Nov. 3 general election.
