Twelve-year-old Raghav Shrestha, a student of Sartell–St. Stephen Middle School, was posthumously named an honorary police officer by the Sartell Police Department on Oct. 8, after a bicycle crash left him with fatal injuries.

Chief of Police Brandon Silgjord said officers visited Raghav in the hospital before life support was withdrawn and honored him with a badge and a pin in the presence of his family. “Several of us involved in the incident were able to visit Raghav this morning, and in the presence of his family pin him with his own badge and swear him in as an honorary police officer with Sartell,” Silgjord said.
