Devotional songs (Bhajans) were performed in a club-style musical setting for the first time in the United States during a Bhajan Clubbing Night in New Jersey on Jan. 9.

The event, organized by Cultivate Talents Unlimited, was held at the Royal Albert's Palace and coincided with Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas. The three-hour program brought together over 400 participants across age groups.

The concept for the event was developed by Jyotsna Sharma and Tarun Sharma, co-founders of Cultivate Talents Unlimited, following observed interest in similar formats among younger audiences in Indian metropolitan cities.

Organizers said the event was conceived to adapt devotional music to contemporary formats while retaining its spiritual core.

The musical segment featured 15 singers and musicians selected through a tri-state talent search conducted by the agency. The performances included group bhajans, devotional chants, and audience-led singing.

A U.S.-based ensemble led by Kevin Kalpa Virksha and Krishna Das Sharma performed Hanuman Chalisa and devotional chants dedicated to Shiva and Radha Krishna.

The sold-out event was supported by the World Peace and Health Foundation and took place in the Crystal Hall at Royal Albert’s Palace, a venue commonly used for community gatherings in New Jersey that also houses a statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

Attendees were served a vegetarian dinner and refreshments during the program.

Cultivate Talents Unlimited said it plans to expand the Bhajan Clubbing Night format to other U.S. states, with additional events to be announced.
