The Americans of Indian Origin of Houston and surrounding cities hosted a festive celebration for the 250th anniversary of American independence at Pearland Park last month
The event was put together by a group of individual volunteers and America250. Supported by 92 local Indian American organizations and businesses, the event was attended by the community, elected officials, and dignitaries.

The program honored 29 veterans from the army, navy, and air force. Attendees watched various Indian cultural events on the stage and visited booths set up by supporting organizations and businesses.
The committee also recognized 250 volunteers from the American Indian community for their service over the years, and hundreds of participants took home a commemorative souvenir coin.
The Indian American community was recognized for its contributions through messages from Senator Ted Cruz and Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher, a proclamation from the City of Sugar Land, and remarks from the mayor of Pearland, who highlighted the cooperation between the USA and India.
Anav Batra, lead executive of the Jindal Group (the title sponsor), spoke about growing trade opportunities between the two nations. Kalpalata Guntapalli, a Pravasi Bharatiya Samman honoree, delivered the keynote speech.
The America250 Organizing Committee’s co-chair Pradip Parekh thanked the community for their goodwill and acknowledged the event sponsors: Jindal group, Tara Capital, Raj & Jugal Malani, Straheki, Deep, Disha Services, Simplex Lending, US Indian Community Foundation, Sri Ashtalakshmi Temple, JK A/C & Heating Service, Vaishali Dev, and ICICI Bank.
