Dallas Murder Aftermath: New India Abroad to host virtual gathering on hate crimes

The gathering is being organized in light of the recent murder of Indian national Chandra Mouli Nagamallaiah at a Dallas motel.

New India Abroad is organizing a virtual community gathering, 'United Against Violence', Sept. 22 at 1:00PM EST.

The gathering is organized in light of the tragic beheading of an Indian national in Dallas, a crime that has caused fear and deep concern in the hearts of the Indian community in the country.

On Sept. 10, Chandra Mouli Nagamallaiah, a 50-year-old Indian immigrant, was fatally attacked at the Dallas motel he managed. Authorities reported that Yordanis Cobos-Martinez, 37, killed him with a machete during a dispute over a malfunctioning washing machine. The incident took place in-front of Nagamallaiah's family, who unsuccessfully tried to intervene at the time of the attack.

United against hate, violence, and division, the event will feature messages from the U.S. Congress & other public officials.

Kicking off with a moment of silence in remembrance of Nagamallaiah and opening remarks, the virtual gathering will also include reflections from community leaders and a keynote address on hate crimes and community safety.
