The Consulate General of India in New York organized an event to highlight the vision of IIT Kanpur's Gangwal School of Medical Sciences and Technology.
The Gangwal School of Medical Sciences and Technology (GSMST) at Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur is a pioneering initiative that integrates medicine, engineering, and artificial intelligence to drive innovation in healthcare, medical research, and MedTech development.
It aims to create an interdisciplinary ecosystem featuring advanced research centers, medical education programs, and a super-specialty hospital to address India's evolving healthcare needs.
Consul General Binaya Srikanta Pradhan, in his address, highlighted the growing India-U.S. healthcare partnership, noting the participation of leading American medical institutions.
The event was also attended by Professor Manindra Agrawal, Director of IIT Kanpur. Delievering the keynote address, he outlined the institute's plans for the Gangwal School and acknowledged the contributions of IIT Kanpur alumni in advancing major initiatives.

Dr. Anil Lalwani, the inaugural dean of the Gangwal School, introduced the institution's interdisciplinary mission and said it aims to emerge as a global center of excellence in medical education, research, and innovation.
A key highlight of the event was the panel discussion, titled, “Medicine Reimagined: Engineering the Future of Health”.
The discussion featured Dr. Ashutosh K. Tewari, Dr. Dev Joneja, and Prof. Agrawal, with Dr. Lalwani serving as moderator.
Panelists discussed how the convergence of medicine, engineering, data science, and artificial intelligence could accelerate healthcare innovation, translational research, medical device development, digital health solutions, and affordable healthcare delivery.
The event concluded with remarks from Deepak Raj, Chairman of the IIT Kanpur Foundation, who reaffirmed the role of the alumni network in supporting global partnerships and institution-building efforts.
