The state of Odisha has increased the security measures following a video threat issued by Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, the US-based leader of the banned pro-Khalistani group Sikhs for Justice (SFJ).
In the video, Pannun claimed that the upcoming All India Conference of Director Generals/Inspectors General of Police (DGP/IGP), scheduled to take place from Nov. 29 to Dec. 1 in Bhubaneswar, would be a target.
In response, the Odisha government has designated several areas around the conference venue as "no-fly" and "no-drone" zones, ensuring heightened vigilance.
The event, hosted by the Intelligence Bureau, will focus on critical national security matters, including counter-terrorism, left-wing extremism, coastal security, and narcotics. Alongside these discussions, the prestigious President's Police Medal for distinguished service will also be awarded.
Over 200 top security officials are expected to attend the conference, marking a key moment for India’s law enforcement agencies.
This security boost comes on the heels of previous threats from Pannun, who had also warned about potential attacks on Air India flights and public figures.
The authorities are treating the threat seriously, stepping up efforts to prevent any disruption to the event or threats to the dignitaries attending.
