Indo-American Cultural Society celebrates Independence Day

The Indo-American Cultural Society of USA celebrated India's Independence day on Aug. 16, 2025 in Edison, New Jersey.

The celebration featured a flag hoisting ceremony and cultural performances ranging from patriotic songs and dance performances to singing bollywood hits.

The event was attended by State senator Henry Owen, Councilman Ajay Patil, Central Public Information Officer of the Indian Consulate in New York Pragya Singh and many other dignitaries.

The President of the Indo-American Cultural Society, Peter Kothari, highlighted the importance of the day and said, "15th August is more (important) than any holiday in our life and I am so happy and our team is so excited to celebrate this day."

Representing the Indian Consulate in New York, Pragya Singh shared a message of unity. She said, "United we stand and divided we fall. So we have to be together, we have to grow and the Consulate is always there to help you, to back you in every situation."

Indian Independence Day, celebrated on August 15, marks the country's freedom from British rule in 1947.
