Indian-American policy analyst Neeraja Deshpande has sparked debate within the diaspora by questioning what she calls a growing reliance on arranged marriages.
Urging young Indian Americans to exercise greater personal autonomy in relationships, she emphasized the importance of independent dating and self-discovery before turning to parental matchmaking.

“I'm not opposed to arranged marriage at all,” Deshpande, a policy analyst at Independent Women focusing on education and gender issues, clarified in her post on X.
