The Mysuru Dasara festivities concluded with a record-setting drone show at the Torchlight Parade Ground in Bannimantap. Close to 3,000 drones lit up the night sky, creating a giant tiger that secured a Guinness World Record for the largest aerial mammal image.
The show, organized by the Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC), initially planned to feature 1,500 drones, similar to last year’s scale. The number was later increased to 3,000 to attempt a global record. To certify the achievement, CESC brought in a team from London that included aeronautical engineers, auditors, and legal experts.
While the tiger formation was the highlight, the drones created 10–12 images in total, reflecting Karnataka’s heritage and India’s identity. These included Goddess Chamundeshwari, Lord Krishna dancing on a serpent, the solar system, a map of Karnataka featuring the state’s five guarantee schemes, and images of national symbols such as a peacock, eagle, dolphin, an Indian soldier with Mother Cauvery, and the Ambari elephant.
The trial demonstrations were held on Sept. 28 and 29 as a prelude to the main events held on Oct.1 and 2. Playback singer Kunal Ganjawala and his team performed ahead of the drone display, adding to the festive atmosphere.
