Eight arrested in Canada for stolen mail worth CAD $400,000
The arrested individuals are charged with a total of 344 Criminal Code offences.

Eight Sikh individuals were arrested by Peel Police in Canada over allegations of stolen mail worth CAD $400,000, the authorities said on Oct. 10.
The individuals, all in their twenties, namely, Sumanpreet Singh, Gurdeep Chattha, Jashandeep Jattana, Harman Singh, Jasanpreet Singh, Manroop Singh, Rajbir Singh, and Upinderjit Singh, are being charged with a total of 344 Criminal Code offences, including charges of assault with a weapon, theft from mail and possession of property obtained from crime.

Talking about the crime, Peel Police said in a statement, "In April 2025, Peel and Halton Police launched a joint investigation with Canada Post involving a series of mail thefts occurring throughout the Region of Peel. The investigation uncovered a group of individuals working together to target residential mailboxes, resulting in widespread theft and disruption to community members."
Following months of investigation, search warrants were executed on Sept. 8 and 9, at multiple residences in Mississauga.
Following the searches, hundreds of pieces of stolen mail were recovered, as per the police. This included 182 credit cards, 20 gift cards, 35 government identification cards, and more than 250 cheques.
Announcing the arrest on Oct. 10, Peel Police reported that eight were held for a bail hearing and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
