Cultural and heritage platforms can function as cultural commons: shared ground where complexity is not a threat, and where the imperfect work of living together can still take place.

New Jersey-based food manufacturer The Campbell’s Company announced the appointment of Indian-origin executive Mohit Anand as executive vice president and president of its snacks division, effective Feb. 23.

Anand will lead brands including Goldfish, Pepperidge Farm, Snyder’s of Hanover, Lance, Kettle Brand, Cape Cod, Snack Factory and Late July. He will report to Campbell’s president and chief executive officer Mick Beekhuizen and will join the company’s Operating Committee as an executive officer.

He succeeds Elizabeth Duggan, who is leaving the company.

“With some of the best brands in the business, Campbell’s has the right to win in snacking,” Beekhuizen said in a statement. “Adding a leader like Mohit to our talented team will help drive change and deliver the growth we know our Snacks portfolio can achieve.”

Beekhuizen said Anand brings a track record of improving sales, margins and operational efficiency across consumer packaged goods businesses, adding that his general management experience and commercial expertise are expected to help return the Snacks division to sustainable growth.

Anand joins Campbell’s from Kellanova, now part of Mars, Incorporated, following a recent acquisition. Most recently, he served as senior vice president and general manager in the accelerator division of Mars Snacking and was part of the integration team. Before that, he led Kellanova’s frozen foods business in North America, based in Chicago.

Earlier in his career, Anand headed Kellogg’s snacks business across Asia, the Middle East and Africa, and held senior leadership roles at Unilever, including leading its global water and beverages businesses from London. He began his career at Procter & Gamble, where he spent 15 years in senior marketing and general management roles across Asia.

Anand holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Panjab Engineering College in Chandigarh, India, and a master’s degree in management studies from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies in Mumbai.
