44 Years Behind Bars: The Wrongful Conviction of Subu Vedam

November 2025 103 views 4:38

After spending 44 years behind bars for a crime he did not commit, Subramanyam “Subu” Vedam finally walked free — only to be taken into ICE custody moments later. Born in India and raised in Pennsylvania, Vedam was convicted at 21 for the 1981 murder of Tom Kinser, despite maintaining his innocence. Decades later, suppressed FBI evidence proved the bullets could not have come from the weapon tied to him. A judge vacated his conviction in 2025, acknowledging grave constitutional violations. Yet, instead of returning home to his family, Vedam remains detained at an ICE facility as his fight for true freedom continues. A heartbreaking tale of justice delayed — and still not delivered
