Trump Admin Plans New Operations Against Cartel

September 2025 1109 views 3:14

The U.S. government, under the Trump administration, has escalated its target on drug cartels—shifting from law enforcement to military force. In a high-stakes operation in the southern Caribbean, a U.S. strike sank a vessel allegedly run by the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua, killing 11 suspects. Top officials—including Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Secretary of State Marco Rubio—warn that more such lethal operations are coming. The administration now designates drug cartels, including those from Ecuador and Venezuela, as "narco-terrorist organizations," opening the door to further use of military might. Critics argue the operation bypassed due process and may set a dangerous international precedent.
