સુરત શહેરના પર્વત પાટિયા વિસ્તારમાં આજે સવારે એક મોટી આગની ઘટના બની છે. પર્વત પાટિયા વિસ્તારમાં આવેલી સાત માળની 'રાજ ટેક્સટાઇલ માર્કેટ'માં સવારે ભીષણ આગ લાગી હતી, જેના કારણે સમગ્ર માર્કેટમાં અફરાતફરીનો માહોલ સર્જાયો હતો. ફાયર બ્રિગેડ દ્વારા ચાર કલાકની જહેમત બાદ આગ પર કાબુ મેળવવામાં ફાયર વિભાગને સફળતા મળી હતી. જોકે સિન્થેટીક કાપડનો જથ્થો હોવાથી કુલિંગની કામગીરી વચ્ચે ફરીથી આગ ફાટી નીકળી છે અને સાતમો માળ આગની ચપેટમાં આવી ગયો છે. ફાયર વિભાગ હાલ આગ પર કાબૂ મેળવવાનો પ્રયાસ કરી રહ્યો છે. પ્રાથમિક માહિતી મુજબ, આગની શરૂઆત માર્કેટના ગ્રાઉન્ડ ફ્લોર પર આવેલી લિફ્ટન વાયરીંગમાંથી થઈ હતી. આ ભીષણ આગના કારણે માર્કેટની 20થી વધુ દુકાનો આગની ઝપેટમાં આવી ગઈ છે. કાપડ બજારની દુકાનોમાં આગ લાગતા નુકસાનનો આંકડો મોટો હોવાની સંભાવના છે.
