USCIRF warns of rising minorities persecution in Pakistan

USCIRF argued that Pakistan's actions "continue to merit" its designation as a Country of Particular Concern, a status that allows the US to impose targeted sanctions and restrictions.

The US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) on Sept. 18 said that there are systematic and egregious violations of religious freedom, including mob violence, misuse of blasphemy laws, and escalating attacks on Ahmadis, Hindus, and Christians.

In its latest country update released this week, USCIRF painted a grim picture of religious freedom in Pakistan, warning that government authorities not only enforce discriminatory laws but also tolerate violence against religious minorities by failing to hold perpetrators accountable.
