US revokes thousands of visas under enhanced vetting measures

Citing security concerns, overstays, and potential ineligibility indicators, the U.S. intensified visa revocations under enhanced vetting measures.

The US State Department has ramped up visa revocations since the start of the Trump Administration, targeting any holders of valid U.S. visas whose circumstances indicate potential ineligibility, a senior State Department official said on Aug. 21.

“The Department’s continuous vetting includes all of the more than 55 million foreigners who currently hold valid U.S. visas,” said the official on condition of anonymity.
