Trump touts strong ties with India as Sergio Gor sworn In as envoy

Trump confirmed that the U.S. would be bringing the tariffs down on India after New Delhi reduced its imports of Russian oil.

President Donald Trump on Nov. 10 praised the United States’ “fantastic relationship” with India and its Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as he presided over the swearing-in of Sergio Gor as America’s new Ambassador to the Republic of India and Special Envoy to South and Central Asia.

The Ceremony and Trump’s Remarks

Standing in the Oval Office surrounded by Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and several Republican senators, Trump called India “one of the world’s oldest civilizations” and “a very important economic and security partner in the Indo-Pacific region.”
