President Donald Trump / Reuters
President Donald Trump on Nov. 24 said he was prepared to deploy the National Guard to New York City if local authorities needed assistance. Speaking to reporters before his departure on Marine One, the President said the issue had been discussed during a meeting a day earlier.
A reporter asked, “Do you still plan to deploy the National Guard to New York City?” Trump responded, “If they need it. Right now, other places needed more, but if they need it. We had a very good meeting yesterday. We talked about that. Uh, but if they need it, I would do it.”
