US President Donald Trump on June 12 exuded confidence that he would be able to get India and Pakistan together towards a lasting peace, despite New Delhi’s reservations that it cannot talk with its neighbour unless Islamabad starts taking action against terrorists and stops supporting them.

“We're going to get those two getting together. I told them, I told them ..India and Pakistan they've had a long-standing rivalry over Kashmir. And I said, I can solve anything. I'll be your arbitrator. I will be your arbitrator. I can solve anything,” Trump told reporters in the East Room of the White House.
