Trump administration targets H-1B abuse with ‘Project Firewall’

The new initiative, officials said, would protect highly skilled American workers from being sidelined in favour of cheaper foreign labour.

The U.S. Department of Labour on Sept. 19 unveiled “Project Firewall,” a sweeping enforcement initiative aimed at cracking down on alleged abuses of the H-1B visa program, marking the first time a labour secretary will personally certify investigations into employers suspected of violating the rules.

The new initiative, officials said, would protect highly skilled American workers from being sidelined in favour of cheaper foreign labour.
