Thoughtworks, a global technology consultancy specializing in design, engineering, and AI, announced that its Indian American global chief information security officer, Nitin Raina, has been named the '2025 Chicago CISO of the Year.'

The recognition, awarded by the Chicago CISO of the Year Program, celebrates security leaders who have made significant contributions to their organizations, the profession, and the wider community.

Raina was honored in the mid-cap category, which includes companies with revenue under $4 billion, for his leadership in transforming cybersecurity into a key business enabler at Thoughtworks.

“I am thrilled to congratulate Nitin on this well-deserved honor,” said Amit Choudhary, chief operating officer at Thoughtworks.

Under Raina’s leadership, Thoughtworks has introduced several globally recognized security initiatives, including the ‘Business-Centric Security Maturity Model’ and the ‘Security Champions Program.’ These frameworks have strengthened the company’s culture of shared responsibility and embedded “security-by-design” principles across global delivery operations.

“I am deeply honored to receive this award and share this recognition with my outstanding global team,” Raina said. In a LinkedIn post, he added, “Grateful beyond words to be named the 2025 Chicago Midcap CISO of the Year! This truly belongs to the amazing people I work alongside.”

Raina’s programs have previously earned Thoughtworks the 2024 CSO Award and positioned him as a finalist for other major industry distinctions.

With over 25 years of experience in IT, risk, and cybersecurity, Raina is recognized for his ability to align complex technical frameworks with strategic business goals.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in electronics engineering from the College of Engineering Pune and a postgraduate degree in information technology.

The Chicago CISO of the Year Award, modeled after the CIO of the Year recognition from AITP Chicago, SIM-Chicago, and the Executive Club of Chicago, honors leaders advancing both organizational and community security practices.
