Top Republican lawmakers joined Hindu American and Jewish American leaders at a Capitol Hill Club roundtable hosted by the newly launched advocacy organisation American Hindu Jewish Congress (AHJC) to discuss rising global threats from transnational Islamist terrorism and its impact on U.S. national security.
The event brought together Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, Rep. Tom Kean, a member of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs for South and Central Asia;, Rep. Chris Smith, chairman of the Congressional Executive Commission on China, Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick, chairman of the National Intelligence Enterprise, and Rep. Mike McCaul, chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
Speaker Johnson stressed the need for deeper cooperation between the United States, India, and Israel. “It’s time for a three-way partnership,” he said, “in trade, intelligence sharing, and defense cooperation.”
Reps. Kean, McCaul, and Smith called attention to what they described as “the Chinese nexus in today's global Jihad.”
AHJC, formed earlier this year, is a national political advocacy organization led by Indian American Arthur Kapoor (chairman) and Dr. Munr Kazmir (vice chairman), both known for their involvement in New Jersey Republican politics and the Trump-Vance 2024 campaign.
At the roundtable, AHJC leaders and lawmakers drew connections between several recent events: the Oct.7, 2023 terror attacks in Israel, the Apr.22, 2025 terror attacks in Kashmir, and what they call ongoing antisemitic demonstrations on U.S. college campuses. The discussion focused on how these incidents are part of a broader pattern of threats linked to global Islamist networks.
AHJC board member Rajiv Malhotra outlined the ideological and operational dimensions of transnational Islamist terrorism, stressing the importance of long-term policy planning. “There is a critical need for thought leadership by an organization such as AHJC,” Malhotra said.
Arthur Kapoor announced that AHJC is planning a series of future policy events and a legislative advocacy plan to expand on the issues raised at the roundtable. He also revealed that a fundraising gala is scheduled for Oct.28, 2025, at Mar-a-Lago in West Palm Beach, Florida. “The major headliners and speakers will be made public very soon,” Kapoor said.
