Sewa International and the DFW Hindu Temple have signed a one-year lease agreement to support the new Sewa Hindu Mobile Pantry initiative.
The agreement, finalized on Oct. 26, allows Sewa International to use a house adjacent to the temple premises as a food storage facility for a nominal rent of $1 per year.

Since 2020, Sewa International has conducted food distribution events from the DFW Hindu Temple parking lot, serving hundreds of families. With the launch of the Sewa Hindu Mobile Pantry, the organization will deliver canned and boxed food once a week to underserved communities across the Dallas–Fort Worth area.
According to Sewa International, the new storage facility will help strengthen the operational capacity of the mobile pantry program by providing a dedicated space for organizing and managing food supplies. The DFW Hindu Temple Management has made the property available to support the initiative.
The DFW Hindu Temple, located at 1616 N Britain Road in Irving, has been associated with Sewa International’s food relief efforts since the COVID-19 pandemic. The collaboration has included multiple community food drives held under the #SewaDFW initiative.
The Sewa Hindu Mobile Pantry expands on this partnership by extending food distribution to neighborhoods lacking regular access to nutritious food. The program aligns with Sewa International’s nationwide Sewa Pantry network, which focuses on improving food access through volunteer-driven service.
Nationally, Sewa International has undertaken food relief initiatives such as Sewa Diwali, which in 2024 collected over 500,000 pounds of food across 34 states for distribution to more than 240 community organizations.
The Dallas–Fort Worth mobile pantry program was also included among Sewa’s local fundraising priorities at its 2025 annual gala.
