Wharton professor dances to ‘Badtameez Dil’ in class, video viral

The Instagram reel, shared by Wharton’s official account, has surpassed 360,000 views

A video showing a professor at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania dancing in class to the Bollywood song Badtameez Dil went viral on social media, drawing widespread attention online. 

The clip shows professor Kartik Hosanagar surprising his MBA students by breaking into a dance during a classroom session, prompting cheers and applause.

The Instagram reel, shared on Wharton’s official account, has garnered over 360,000 views and around 9,500 likes.



Dressed in a sweater and jeans, Hosanagar is seen dancing to a mash-up of songs, including Badtameez Dil from the Hindi film Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, briefly transforming the formal academic setting into an informal celebration to mark the end of the semester.

The video was shared on Instagram by Wharton’s official account with the caption, “POV: Your professor celebrates the end of the semester by dancing for your class.” 

Hosanagar also posted the clip on his own account, writing, “Name a better way to end the semester, we’ll wait,” and described the performance as part of what he said is becoming an end-of-semester dance-off tradition with his #WhartonMBA students.

Students can be heard cheering throughout the video, which quickly gained traction online. Responding to the engagement, Wharton’s Instagram account commented, “Highly encourage watching until the end to see Prof. Hosanagar hit the Soulja Boy.”

Hosanagar also reacted to the response in the comments, writing, “Oh wow, judging by the engagement on this one, I may have to stop my AI posts and switch to dancing on Insta.”

The video drew reactions from other social media users and academics, with one fellow professor commenting, “Great idea. Will try it out with my students next time around!”
