Rice University alumnus Rushi Bhalani will be honored with the Builders Award by the Association of Rice Alumni (ARA) on Nov. 7 during the president’s town hall, part of the university’s alumni weekend celebrations.

The Builders Award, established in 2005, recognizes graduates from the past decade who have demonstrated exceptional service to Rice University and its community. Along with Bhalani, Will Eldridge (Class of 2016, ’17) will also receive the honor this year.

“Rushi and Will exemplify what it means to be builders —alumni who not only carry the spirit of Rice into the world but actively shape its future,” said David Leal, president of the ARA. “Their dedication to strengthening the Rice community and empowering the next generation of Owls is inspiring.”

A computer science graduate, Bhalani has remained closely connected to Rice through multiple leadership and volunteer roles. He has served on three alumni boards: the Rice Engineering Alumni Board of Directors, the Association of Rice Alumni Board, and the Center for Career Development Advisory Board.

His initiatives have helped raise more than $200,000 through data-driven outreach and establish a summer internship program that connected dozens of engineering students with alumni mentors.

Bhalani has also contributed as a Baker College community associate, admissions interviewer, Rice Fund volunteer, and mentor to more than 20 students.

Professionally, Bhalani has built a career at the intersection of strategy, product design, and innovation. He has worked as a strategy consultant at Accenture, a senior business analyst at BiggerPockets, and a senior product strategist at Indeed, where he led go-to-market strategy for a billion-dollar global platform.

He is currently pursuing graduate studies at Northwestern University, preparing to design mission-driven, human-centered product experiences.

Raised in the suburbs of Los Angeles, Bhalani attributes his approach to leadership to the values of connection and community he developed during his time at Rice.
