Indian American Democrat from Virginia, Rep. Suhas Subramanyam distanced himself from allegations that he serves as an "American ally of Hindu nationalist politics," saying India must balance preserving its Hindu-majority identity with maintaining its secular character while emphasizing that his legislative priority remains the United States.
Speaking to journalist Friedrich Pieter in a recorded interview, Subramanyam was asked about a Rutgers University report that identified the Coalition of Hindus of North America (CoHNA) as part of an RSS-linked network in the United States.
