A new report by Georgetown University’s Bridge Initiative says that despite a wave of Islamophobic attacks during his New York City mayoral campaign, Zohran Mamdani’s political rise exposed the normalization of anti-Muslim rhetoric in American public life.
The report titled ‘Islamophobia and the Political Rise of Zohran Mamdani,’ written by Mobashra Tazamal, examines anti-Muslim rhetoric directed at Mamdani during his historic campaign for mayor of New York City. Mamdani, the son of Indian American filmmaker Mira Nair, faced attacks from politicians, media figures and online commentators, according to the report.
