Jasman Sekhon, was shot dead in Surrey, Canada, on March 28, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police said in a statement.
An Indian-origin man, according to media reports, Sekhon had previous interactions with police and is believed to have been involved in the drug trade, police said.
On March 28, police responded to the 15100 block of 60 Avenue in Surrey after receiving reports of a shooting. Sekhon was found at the scene with multiple gunshot wounds and was given life-saving measures; however, he did not survive.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team, the largest homicide unit in Canada, has launched an investigation in coordination with the Surrey Police Service, the Integrated Forensic Identification Services, and the B.C. Coroners Service.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Sekhon’s killing was a targeted incident related to organized crime.
Police said that approximately 15 minutes after the shooting, a blue Hyundai SUV was found fully engulfed in flames in the area of 186th Street and 44 Avenue in Surrey. Investigators are examining possible links and are urging witnesses who may have been at either location between 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on March 28 to come forward.
Sgt. Freda Fong said in a statement, “This was a brazen shooting in what is usually a quiet neighborhood.”
She added, “Investigators are working diligently to determine the circumstances surrounding the homicide and identifying all parties involved.”
