Irish police arrest two for July 19 attack on Indian

The victim was assaulted within weeks of reaching Ireland and had to be hospitalized for his injuries.

The Irish police reported the arrest of two men for alleged involvement in the attack on an Indian man on July 19 at Parkhill Lawns in the Kilnamanagh area of Dublin. The arrests were made on the morning of Nov. 14.

The violent attack on the Indian man in his 40s, was alleged to be racially motivated and is considered to be a part of a string of racially motivated attacks on Indians in the country, including an attack on a 6-year-old Indian girl, who was asked to go back to her country. The attacks attracted widespread condemnation from community and political leaders, including from the Irish President, who described the attacks as "despicable".

The July 19 victim had entered the country just three weeks before the attack.

Notifying the arrests, the police said in a statement, "As part of the investigation into the assault of a male in his 40s, at Parkhill Lawns, Kilnamanagh Dublin 24 on the 19th of July 2025, Gardaí have arrested a male aged in his 30s and a male juvenile teen, this morning, Friday 14th November 2025."

The police revealed that both alleged assailants are currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Garda Stations in South Dublin and further investigations are underway.
