Chapman University hosted a celebration of India’s 77th Republic Day, bringing together business, academic, and community leaders on its campus. The event’s chief guest was Dr. K. J. Srinivasa, Consul General of India in Los Angeles.
Chapman University president Nidhi P. Vogt welcomed attendees, alongside vice chancellor for Student Life Jerry Price; Tom Turk, dean of the Argyros College of Business & Economics; executive director Araceli Martinez; and other senior campus leaders.

The program opened with ceremonial pageantry led by the Orange High School Color Guard under the leadership of MSgt. Carlos Mata and Colonel Mark Tull. Pradip K. Shukla, academic director of the MSc in Business Analytics program and The Shah Family Endowed Chair in Innovativeness, along with Professor Yatri Shukla, formally welcomed guests to the celebration.
A cultural highlight of the evening was a rendition of Vande Mataram, the 150-year-old patriotic song, performed in its original version by Dr. Charu Sinha. The Indian national flag was raised by CG Srinivasa, joined by Indian Army veterans Major Gurjeet Singh and Captain Aparna Hande.
The event was co-sponsored by GOPIO-LA, SMAP, Saahas for Cause, with SoCal Channel serving as media partner. Chups Mom2Mom, founded by Sami Susaimanickam, provided specially prepared meal boxes for attendees.
