Indian origin start-up founder Maulik Pandya's LinkedIn post has raised a sea of questions against Canada's bureaucratic red tapism, as he shared why he and his family had to leave Canada.
Founder of AI-driven food technology brand ‘Eatance’, Pandya shared an emotional post about his departure from Canada, a country he and his family had been calling home.
Highlighting his deep frustration over the systemic issues he faced, Pandya said, "Many countries provide a single window for startups and for businesses. In Canada we met delays, and traps. It felt as if our innocent children became targets. That is our lived experience."
He noted that the decision was not easy and was made "through tears". He added, "We are dissolving our beautiful nest we built with love as a family of four with two wonderful daughters."
In his post, Pandya narrated his ordeal and shared that he and his family had spent years trying to navigate the complex processes. Talking about his application to Canada's Startup Visa Program, he noted that he had filed the application on Aug. 4, 2021. However, he added, "Early guidance suggested weeks to a few months. The journey became endless."

He further alleged that the "posted processing times now stretch beyond ten years, with moving targets that make planning impossible".
Having received no clarity on the issue from his lawyers or the MP office in spite of such delays, the founder announced that he is quitting. He said, "Our decision is simple. We are not asking for anything more. We are closing this chapter and moving forward for the sake of our children and our peace."
The decision came after silence or ping-pong tactics from multiple offices, all the while, the Pandyas kept paying taxes, creating jobs, and contributing to the economy.
The post received significant support from the LinkedIn community, with one user describing the ordeal as "heartbreaking. Another user remarked, "Everything you describe is text book racial battle fatigue due to systemic racism. Be well."
Some users even urged Pandya to return to India, a user said, "I hope you are coming back to India. Use the learning, life lessons and build your next venture in India."
