The Indian Consulate in Seattle celebrated 'Ekta Diwas', also known as India's 'National Unity Day', with a wall installation honouring the legacy of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, on Oct. 31.

National Unity Day, observed annually on October 31 in India, commemorates the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the architect of national integration who unified over 560 princely states into a single nation. It promotes unity, solidarity, and the spirit of "Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat".

Unveiled at the new Chancery premises of the Indian Consulate in Seattle, the installation features a scenic pictorial view of the world’s tallest statue, the Statue of Unity, set against the backdrop of the Narmada River Valley in Kevadia, Gujarat.

The Statue of Unity, standing 182 meters tall, honors Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, India’s 'Iron Man' who unified the nation. Inaugurated in 2018, it symbolizes national pride, strength, and the vision of a united India.

The recently opened Consulate’s multipurpose hall facility, draws a footfall of nearly 200 visitors per month, including local dignitaries, community organizations, business leaders, consular applicants, along with members of the Indian American community, making the venue a prime spot for sharing the message of India's unity through the installation.

As part of the unveiling ceremony, the Wall of Unity was opened for public viewing. Consul General of Indian in Seattle Prakash Gupta also administered the “Rashtriya Ekta Diwas Pledge” to all officials attending the unveiling ceremony.
