It is expected to serve as a reference for both governments in aligning innovation efforts with sustainable development and shared economic goals.

India and the United Kingdom on Nov. 4 launched the India–United Kingdom Science and Technology Partnership (IN-UK-STP) Dashboard to strengthen evidence-based collaboration in research and innovation.

The dashboard was jointly unveiled by the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India, Ajay Kumar Sood, and the UK’s National Technology Adviser, David Warren Smith, during a bilateral meeting at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.

Developed by the Office of the PSA and the British High Commission, the pilot version of the IN-UK-STP dashboard maps 143 bilateral science and technology projects supported since 2018.

It tracks funding values, implementing partners, and agencies from both sides, and aligns the projects with the India-UK Science and Innovation Council (SIC) goals, the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and key technology cooperation areas.

The meeting was attended by Scientific Secretary in the Office of the PSA, Parvinder Maini, and senior officials from India’s Department of Science and Technology, the UK Department of Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT), and the British High Commission in India.

Parvinder Maini described the initiative as an “evidence and policy tool,” adding that close coordination between both governments had been instrumental in bringing it to fruition.

Sood said the dashboard would complement ongoing initiatives such as the India-UK Technology Security Initiative and the bilateral trade agreement, adding that it could help “synergise priorities, identify gaps, and capture the direction in which the partnership is evolving.”

Smith said the platform would help shape the India-UK Research and Innovation Corridor (RIC), recently announced to promote joint scientific infrastructure and collaboration.

Both sides agreed that the dashboard should be expanded to include output and impact indicators such as publications, patents, startup partnerships, and private-sector participation.

The launch comes at a time of growing cooperation between New Delhi and London in science, technology, and trade. In recent months, the two countries have strengthened their ties through initiatives such as the Technology Security Initiative and the Critical Minerals Supply Chain Observatory, while also advancing talks on a Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement.

Officials said the dashboard would provide a consolidated view of ongoing bilateral projects, enabling policymakers to track progress, assess impact, and plan future research priorities more strategically.
