HungerMitao, a Texas-based community service organization, has revitalized its food distribution program, now giving out more than 1 million meals each month.
Delivering food through the Feeding America network of food banks, HungerMitao works to raise awareness about hunger in the USA, enhance community involvement, and direct the resources and contributions of the Indian American community to combat hunger.
Through its volunteer-led efforts, the organization seeks to raise hunger awareness, organize volunteers, conduct food drives and raise crucial funds to further its grassroot efforts.
Annually, the organization gives aid worth around $500,000, providing over 4,250,000 meals to those in need. Over the years, HungerMitao has raised over $3,600,000 and provided 24,460,710 meals to the most vulnerable people in the area.

The non-profit was founded by Indian origin couple Anna and Raj Asava. Their journey of philanthropy evolved from supporting charities in India to addressing urgent needs locally, leading to the creation of the HungerMitao movement.
Their commitment to strategic and values-driven philanthropy is further reflected in their decision to join CFT’s Live Oak Society. Through this planned giving program, they’ve thoughtfully structured their estate to ensure continued support for causes that reflect their family’s values, long after their lifetime.
Describing this decision, Anna Asava said, "We wanted to make sure that through the Live Oak Society program, we leave enough money in our fund that can continue to support causes that resonate with our family values."
Underscoring their philosophy, she said, "We realized that nothing is going to go with us [after our lifetime]. So why not strategically allocate for the betterment of the next generation?"
Other than their regular food distribution drives, the duo also lead efforts to attract other people to their way of life. The month of October is celebrated as 'Planned Giving Month'. The organization pushes for planning and structuring your money in such a way that it helps those in need even after your death.
